Times are tough. While some get affected more than the others; it is undeniable that we all are affected one way or another. (No thanks to soaring groceries prices.) While it is wise to shop smart, it is also important to know when to be frugal and when to be extravagant when it comes to beauty.
I have since compiled a list of beauty essentials good for splurging and a list for economical buys.
Splurge buys:
- Eye cream
- Serum
- Essence
- Moisturiser (especially night cream)
- Hand Cream with SPF
- Treatment Mask (Cloth Mask, Multivitamin Mask, Anti-aging Mask, Brightening Mask)
- Eye lash curler
- Good heat-styling hair tool
- Nail polish (Good ones last longer)
- Cotton Pads
- Brow powder/pencil
- Foundation/tinted moisturizer (because this is what you put all over your skin everyday)
- Lip balm
- Shampoo/Conditioner/Hair Mask
Economical buys:
- Cleanser
- Face/Body scrubs
- Purifying mask (all contains the same main ingredient - Clay)
- Trendy eye shadow, lipsticks, lipgloss colours (Why invest in something that you know you won't finish by the expiry date?)
- Sunscreen
- Toner
- Body moisturiser
- Hydrating mask (In my experience, most hydrating mask works the same regardless of price)
- Mascaras
- Shower gel/cream
Here are some other tips you can learn to pamper yourself when you're on a budget:
- Learn to do manicure/pedicure for yourself.
- Ask a partner/girlfriend and give each other body massages every week.
- Massage in foot cream right after shower + socks = super soft feet.
- Learn to do deep cleansing and mini spa routine at home.
- Give yourself hair treatments at home instead of going to the salon.
- Massage in cuticle oil to prolong nail polishes and keep nail beds happy.
- Make your favorite scent your signature. Don't purchase perfume by impulse when you see pretty bottles.
