Bobbi Brown: Hydrating Intense Night Cream
Why I love it:
  • An intense night cream designed to deliver overnight concentrated hydration
  • New plastic jar packaging that prevents jar smashing and reduces weight during travel
  • Star ingredients: Enriched Mineral Water, White Birch Extract, Jojoba Seed Oil, Shea Butter, Rapeseed Oil, Mulberry Root Extract, Apple Fruit Extract, Sweet Almond Oil, Green Tea Leaf Extract, Avocado Oil, Vitamin E, Rice Bran Extract
  • Helps to boost natural collagen production while you sleep
  • Texture wise, the night cream looks like cream wax in a jar but once you touch it, feels more like mousse-wax
  • The night cream melts into skin when I massage it in and doesn’t leave any greasy residue
  • Love the botanical scent of this night cream, the scent itself is very relaxing and perfect to use at night
  • Great for:Skin for any age really. It keeps skin rehydrated, recharged and refreshed overnight without leaving skin greasy. Also great to prevent pre-mature aging.

Clarins: ‘Share The Happy’ Campaign & Daily Energizer Range

People often associate Clarins as an elder woman’s skincare range. That is about to change because Clarins just is releasing a new range designed for the younger skin – let’s all welcome the Daily Energizer range.
There’s five products in this range:
  • Cleansing Gel
  • Wake-up Booster
  • Daily Energizer Cream/Cream-gel
  • Daily Energizer Lotion SPF 15
I got to try out their Wake-up Booster & Cream Gel. The Wake-up Booster (much like a toner) is a clear, refreshing, citrusy liquid that works best when it is applied and dabbed onto the skin with a cotton pad. Leaving skin cooling and feeling fresh. The fruity-citrusy scent instantly wakes me up in the morning! If you like products to feel minty/cooling on your skin, this is the one you MUST include in your list.

As for the Daily Energizer Cream-gel, it comes in the regular Clarins glass jar packaging. The creamy gel texture feels like jelly and absorbs into skin rapidly with none of the greasy residue you always get from cream products. Overtime, this helps to boost radiance, improve imperfections and maintain a healthy complexion (definitely something we all want!) I think you’ll be glad to know this moisturiser also doubles up as a makeup primer. Only thing I wish is for it to come with SPF. Regardless kids, SPF or not, we should always wear SPF as a separate step altogether from your skincare and makeup routine.

Product reviews aside, Clarins is the proud sponsor of the Share The Happy campaign. Now many of you know that I am pro positive thoughts and is very against negative thoughts on Twitter or on my blog, simply because being positive rubs off on other people. No one wants to be around someone who bitches and whinges all day long. True story.

Share The Happy campaign is all about “Share the happy and make our world a little better”. Think positive, give someone else a compliment and I truly believe a genuine compliment a day makes the world a better place.

Hop on now to the site and check out the infectious positive site and score yourself some samples of the Wake-Up Booster (my favourite from the collection)!

NARS: Pure Matte Lipstick

“I am always inspired by cinematic references; it felt like a natural step to highlight the launch of Pure Matte Lipstick with a short film that is sexy and modern,” said François Nars, Nars Founder and Creative Director.

Why I love it:

  • Slim & sleek packaging
  • Highly pigmented – you will only need very little at a time to apply
  • Because this lip stick has a strong matte finish (probably not best for super dry lips) and is highly pigmented, it is best to apply this lipstick with a lip brush for a defined and precised lip shape
  • The words bold and intense jumps into mind when I first swatched this lipstick on
  • Surprisingly, as matte as it is, it’s quite hydrating and easy to apply
  • I got try out #Terre De Feu (Black Cherry shade) and surprisingly the colour is very wearable.
NARS Pure Matte Lipstick in #Terre De Feu
(I’ve added a hint of Lanolips 101 Ointment as a lipbase to prevent the case of over drying lips)

Napoleon Perdis: Brighten Up Collection

Recently, Napoleon Perdis released 26 new Color Discs and 5 new Loose Eye Dusts to his already impressive colour collection.

Why I love it:

  • Both Color Discs and Loose Dust comes with hydrating ingredients to hydrate the lids
  • Paraben free and is suitable for all skin types
  • The Loose Dust are highly pigmented so use only very at a time. Always pat and blend. It is also very buildable, I highly recommend eye makeup prior to foundation to save time from cleaning up foundation mess
  • Loose Dust also comes in a very smart canister packaging that released just the right amount of product each time you use, no spilling accidents there!
  • The Color Discs is a sheerer option. If you’re after dramatic look, wet a brush and apply for a stronger presence. This can also double as a blush just pick the right colours!
  • Some of my Loose Dust favourite shades includes: #Honey Child, #Mosaic Gold, #Star Light #Million Dollar Mermaid.
  • Some of my Color Discs favourite shades includes: #Copper Topper, #Sparkling Bubbly, #Skinny Dip, #Trench Coat, #Sugar Plum, #Electric Forest, #Fresh Water Pearl.

Personally, I love how the Color Discs collection has a huge range or pastel and neutral shades, there’s definitely a shade for everyone. #Trench Coat is perfect as a base for the lids.

Eats: Duck Duck Goose

While the soup dumplings was nothing compared to Hu Tong’s; the soup and the dumpling wrapping were pretty decent.
The peking duck (2 per serve) is the highlight of the night. The wrap, the duck and the sauce was a mixture of perfect combination. Highly recommend this dish.
The special stock ramen was disappointingly mediocre. The broth tasted really mild, the pork that came with it was quite soft but that’s about it.
The duck + pork mince burger was quite unsual. It came with cheese spring rolls and a sweet, soft hamburger bun (asian style!). Other than the peking duck rolls, the hamburger was my favourite of the night.
Overall, the entire dining experience was quite disappointing. While the service was friendly, the waitress got our orders messed up and didn’t put through to the kitchen 25 minutes after we’ve placed our orders. In the process, we saw other waitresses dropping glasses on the floor and smashing it. All these was also during a none busy dining period as we stepped in after 9pm and there was plenty of empty tables around us.
While some of their food were pretty good, I doubt we’ll be back anytime soon.

Troy Thompson: Guide to The Younger You

Elite hairdresser, Troy Thompson, is famed for his amazing makeover skills in the hit television series ’10 Years Younger in 10 Days’. And his first book is now available for ladies who want a mini makeover themselves.

In his book, some of the current beauty trends and some not-so-much discussed options are all elaborated complete with helpful pictures to illustrate what the procedures and the low down are about. Some of the chapters that I particularly like includes:

  1. Cleansing Detox – This is currently the craze trend at the moment, just about anyone and everyone’s doing it.
  2. Hair – You’ll be surprise, a proper and detailed hair diagnose and consultation is what you need to transform one immediately.
  3. Dentistry – With the now new and improved options, braces are not the only option to fix your smile. Cosmetic dentistry is probably one of the best investment one can splurge for a lifetime’s worth of result.
  4. Skin – The options available in spas, clincs, medi-spas are something you need to look into and research if you have skin issues and there’s almost a solution for just about any skin concern in a couple weeks of intense treatments.
  5. Injectables – I’m not there yet but maybe one that I might have to take a deeper look into this chapter.
  6. Cosmetic Surgery – Each to it’s own, but gosh I am more tempted now than ever to get a nose job, simply because I don’t have a nose bridge and no sunnies will stay put. All mostly slide down to my nose – not a cool look! and I will have to CONSTANTLY keep pushing it back up. Le sigh.

New Flash:

Coinciding with the book launch, a competition will also launch on September 1, 2010 via  www.troythompson.com.au where participants will be in the running to win a make-over prize package valued at over $12,000. The makeover competition extends for a period of three months (concluding on the 31st December 2010).

Not too long ago, KIT released five new shades for their lipstick collection and let me tell you all five are fun, wearable, excellent shades! None of those deep brown, dark brown, boring shades.

As always, KIT lipsticks comes in a metal case packaging that clicks the lid in securely. I love the heavy and sturdy feel of their lipsticks. The texture is creamy, easy to apply and is rich in pigments. You’ll be happy to know that they are all pack loaded with Vitamin A, C and E, chamomile and aloe to condition the lips while looking pretty!

Their tag line is “these are the five shades that every woman should own” and I couldn’t agree more.

  2. #Show Stopper (hot pink as pictured above)
  3. #Heart Starter (true red, orange based)
