On makeup counters

I have a confession, I find it extremely gross to get make over done in a makeup counter. Don’t get me wrong, I love learning new tips from the experienced makeup artists, trying new products and colours on me but just not big on using products on display counters straight to my face.

Reason behind this is that no matter how clean and hygienic you think you are; the next uneducated customer is just going to come along, dig their dirty finger onto the makeup products on display and apply it to their face. I have seen people apply lipstick on display to their lips, JUST LIKE THAT, using the liner on display on their eyes, JUST LIKE THAT, using the bronzers on display and buffing away, JUST LIKE THAT. Gross much? It is disturbing and is a major ground for breeding infections.

This is the same reason why I would never swim in a public pool. The thought of while I do not piss in the swimming pool but that doesn’t stop someone else from doing so and I don’t want to drown myself in someone else’s piss. Major gross. I know, I am weird.

As a result, I only trial beauty products at the counter on the back of my hand unless it is a pump bottle product.

Do you feel the same way?

  1. That’s exactly how I feel! I can’t swim because of that very reason!! Germs!!! YUK!!!!!! Not just pee in the pool but their dead skin…and like dirt…toe jam…EWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!

  2. We get it. Especially when it comes to eye and lip products. ESPECIALLY lip products. Massive ew to using a communal lipstick! x

  3. I don’t like having anything done to my face at makeup counters either. I would rather pay for something and have it not work & be a waste of money rather than try something out on my face & see if it works or not. However, with pools I would rather swim in an indoor pool than at the beach, because I don’t want to tan! And the reason why going for swims will dry your skin & damage your hair is because of the chemicals they put in the water to kill all the nasties and keep it relatively clean. If you’ve got a problem with piss, just don’t swim where the kiddies are! LOL. But yeah, generally I’m really pedantic about sharing stuff (even drinking from the same bottle as my kids!) I’m a bit of a mysophobe :-/

    • I don’t judge you at all Rin! I don’t do beach OR indoor pool. Crazy I know, I am same with you I rather purchase products and trial rather than products pop onto my face. Usually if I’m invited over for make over, I gently suggest them to use new products on me. :)

  4. Dude, I’m totally the same! I saw a lady once apply MASCARA on at a counter on her lashes… I cringed to think about how swelled up her eye would be the next day X_x;

  5. Yes i do feel the same! i think it’s really really gross share make up…it’s like… do you share your toothbrush?…so yeah i totally agree with you! u’re not alone in being hygienic. :)
    I also test the products on the back of my hands! never on face! ps. nice layout! lovely.
