This is me right now and for the past couple of weeks. As we pressed towards the pointy end of the home renovation process and the ever impending deadlines, we have been working extra hard and long around the clock to get things moving along. Unfortunately for me, that means my patience and physic is put to its ultimate test.
For the past week, we have been slaving every night after work well into midnight painting and with painting you really can’t rush it. There is the cleaning of all walls and ceilings, filling, sanding, priming, cutting and double coating everything. All of which has wait time in between too which makes the whole process a bit of a drag. Knowing us, we did procrastinating quite a bit at the beginning of the project hence all the late nights to make up for it now.
From this reno experience, I am now capable of painting (hand painting and cutting!), carpet removal, cutting up carpet like a pro, sanding, pulling out nails, taping and balancing myself on the top of a ladder!! Who knew you could pick up so many skills as you go? To a certain degree I am so glad to have opt for this path because in the end I know it will all be well worth it and I get to walk away with all these new found skills.
To be honest, we could of moved in the day we got our keys back in 1st of July but being the perfectionist that we are, we didn’t want to settle for less and wanted a few “minor” changes. Who knew these “minor” changes could take months? Our initial early September move in date has now pushed back to late October due to the late shipment of our floorboards from overseas. Thankfully it has finally arrived and we can now have the timber floorboards installed today (takes a week to install) and the builders in next week to build our walk in wardrobe and custom shoe cabinet. Then, it’ll just be the plumber and electrician to get a few things jobs done and furniture delivery then we are all set.
So for the next couple of weeks there will be plenty of packing and unpacking. Please bear with me and the sporadic posts until we move in.
