Loreal Professional’s Hair Chalk actually comes in liquid form and in six vibrant and intense colours to choose from. It is recommended to learn how to apply at a hair salon and then replicate the application process at home that way it leaves less room for error and makes application a breeze once you’ve seen it first hand.
I got the opportunity to trial it at the very same night during my event, so I opted for blue and pink hair as inspired by My Little Ponies. God, I love them!
I did couple of strands of blue/pink underneath my hair for a less obvious finish so that it is still work place friendly the day after. The whole process was super quick too.
- Start with clean, dry hair.
- Comb through hair.
- Shake the Hair Chalk bottle vigorously.
- Apply on desired strand of hair.
- Blow dry the applied section if you want it to dry quicker and you’re all done!
I love how natural it felt on my hair without feeling chalky, dry or like I’ve got product in my hair. It was completely natural to touch and best of all it doesn’t leave any residue on my pillow or my clothes after. It doesn’t transfer onto fabric once the product is dried!
Once I’ve experienced the transformation in salon, it came naturally to do so at home. As the pack came with detailed instructions too, I guess it is always best to wear gloves when application to avoid any liquid drying on your paws and also leave a towel on your shoulder to keep things neat.
The white thing on the bottom are actually the at home DIY applicators that has a fabric side and a plastic side. Basically, you pour some on the fabric side to press it over strands of hair for even application, these applicators are reusable too.
Overall, I liked how mess-free and easy to use the hair chalk is. It doesn’t leave any scent or residue after too. The colours are beautiful, true to colour finish. It also promises to wash off in two shampoos depending on how much colour was applied and hair type.
Unfortunately for me, I have bleached ends on my hair, so the pink strands were on my hair for 2 weeks even with daily shampoo. Crazy huh? To be honest, I didn’t mind a 2 weeks colour on my hair but I was putting the product to its test and experimented with various type of shampoos, oil on dry hair prior shampoo and even Clarisonic + shampoo on the strands and they still stayed vibrant as ever.
I guess in terms of longevity, they definitely take the cake but eventually they did come off naturally. I find Shu Uemura’s Cleansing Oil Shampoo helps.
