Moroccanoil: Frizz Control

Why I love it:

  • Moroccanoil Frizz Control helps to keep hair stay frizz free and static free regardless of the weather condition
  • As usual, Frizz Control comes in a pump bottle packaging and smells lovely much like Moroccanoil’s signature scent for hair products
  • While I don’t have much frizz on my hair so I can’t claim this product delivered magic but it did kept my hair smooth and manageable until my next hair wash
  • Due to its moisturising ingredients, I also find my over-dyed hair look healthier and shinier in the end bits after using this.
  • It is recommended to spray 4-5 pumps throughout clean, towel-dried hair. I have mid length hair and I pump 6-8 pumps all over my hair trying to be careful to avoid too much in and around the root area
  • You can style as usual after. Be sure to still apply heat protectant pre hair drying.
  • Will I recommend this product? Yes if you have unmanageable, dry hair. This will be a welcoming bliss to your hair.

Head & Shoulders: 7 Benefits in 1 Shampoo & Conditioner

With the warmer months, for some reason I use more hair products be it mousse, anti-frizz products or hair conditioning leave in moisturisers. Needless to say, a deep cleansing and preventive hair care is needed to not only keep my scalp healthy but also avoid ended up with flaky bits on my head (never a good look!).

Head & Shoulders is a hair care brand I’ve long heard about but never actually gotten around to trial it. I have always identified them as the ‘scalp’ specialist in treating dandruff. So when I gave this a shot, it’s actually very moisturising (doesn’t leave my hair dry) and my hair doesn’t feel weight down with the conditioner either.

Anything to prevent dandruff is on the cards for me as I produce 500% more oil from every single possible pore in my body during the warmer months.

Moroccanoil: Extra Volume Shampoo & Conditioner

Why I love it:

  • Those of you who have fine/flat hair who couldn’t use Moroccanoil hair products previously due to the richness and thickness of the products, you’ll love that Moroccanoil released the Extra Volume range
  • Still infused with Moroccanoil trademark nourishing and hair loving ingredients; minus the richness and the ‘heavy/creamy’ feeling
  • Shampoo lathers really well for my double cleanse and the conditioner instantly de-tangles my mob
  • Additionally, the rinse off is noticeably quicker and the results is clean, soft, de-tangled hair minus any heaviness
  • Great option if you have oily roots and dry hair end bits like I do, you’ll benefit from the lightness of the shampoo and nourishing bits for the end bits.

GHD Style: Hair Styling Products with New Packaging

Couple of months ago, ghd Style (new website to boot!) released their hair products with new packaging. This time the packaging is sleeker than before and they matches their iconic black and gold hair straighteners.

All products now comes in air tight pump bottle packaging with colour coded design. (For example, green ring bottles are Straight & Smooth range for straight hair, white ring for Styling and so on) Products wise, I have noticed that there’s a wider range on top of the regular range.
My personal favourite and long time HG ghd products are:
  • Root Lift Spray (on wet hair – instant lift combined with blow dry)
  • Heat Protect Spray (a must before all heat styling)
  • Final Shine Spray (my chemically dyed hair often requires some sort of shine spray post heat styling to fake the ‘healthy’ look)
All ghd hair styling products are available in selected salons/hair stores nationally

Prive: Concept Vert Volumizing Froth

Why I love it:

  • I am a big fan of hair mousse. I use it every single time after cleansing my hair to get some volume and boost to the root area. Problem is I have always come across mousse in only aerosol cans until now
  • Prive’s Concept Vert Volumizing Froth does exactly what a hair mousse does except for the non environmental friendly aerosol packaging and is loaded with hair loving ingredients. I don’t know how you feel about this but to me this is revolutionary!
  • Star ingredients: acai berry (excellent antioxidant source), babassu seed oil and chamomile
  • How-to: All you need to do is squirt a small amount (equivalent to 1/10 of what you’d normally use from aerosol canned mousse) on your palm, allow to froth for 5 seconds and gently rub hand together for the froth to develop. To be honest, I did not experience much of a frothing action going on.
  • Results: While it did not deliver crazy amount of froth like aerosol can does, it did however provided body for my hair especially the root area and definition at the lengths. You will also need to work this quickly all over the hair as it tends to get a little sticky on the palms. Be sure to use this only on freshly washed damp hair only.
  • Bonus bits: Environmentally friendly, derived from organic extract, is paraben free and is enriched with antioxidant ingredients for the hair. All round winner for me!

My Pantene Swissh Commercial

Couple of weeks ago, I was invited to a P&G event in Sydney to learn about their new product offerings, trial, sniff and play with them. One of the key product offering was Pantene’s latest Aqua Light collection. Designed for oily roots and limp hair for a deep cleanse but still nourished hair thoroughly with a ultra lightweight formula.

The latest range comes with Pantene’s signature packaging look and scent but the clear gel texture is refreshing from the usual Pantene thick white cream shampoos. Of course  having Barney Martin to personally wash, massage, blow dry and style my hair made the whole experience approximately 130,954,869 times better.

This is me getting my blowie at Barney Martin‘s salon. Let’s hope he opens one up in Melbourne.

This is me immediately after hair styling by the tong-master! You Sydney girls are so lucky to have Barney I swear!

Me and my MBBE girls post hair styling. Amy and Tine.

Post styling, the lovely ladies at P&G surprised us bloggers with a special ‘filming’ session where we can do our own swisshing commercial. I have only one word for this whole experience – unreal. Barney also donned on a wig just to show us how you do the professional swissh.

At a studio not far off from Barney Martin’s salon. The smile you see in the picture? Is the i-am-so-nervous-i-am-about-to-shit-in-my-skirt-smile. Clearly I am not a camera person.

Swissh

More swisshing

I think the guys were cracking a joke, either that or I was delirious from the whole experience.

Getting my hair fixed by the ‘director’. Bet you’re dying to see the end results aren’t you? Personally, I CRINGED the first time watching it (okay I still cringed after watching it 20 times). Le garcon LOL, literally laughed out loud. So here goes, watch it & laugh all you want!

Right now Pantene is running a competition, film your own Swissh to:

Be the new face of Pantene Aqua Light & Win $10,000.

Make your Swissh here. In addition, here’s a fun example of me swisshing

L’Oreal Professioinal: Mythic Oil

Why I love it:

  • Lightweight, comes in plastic pump bottle packaging to prevent leakage, or risk of smashing the bottle due to oily hands
  • I recommend to use this hair oil only on wet hair never on dry hair regardless of how damage or dry your hair tend to be to avoid ending up looking horribly oily
  • If you are unfamiliar with hair oil (which era do you live in?), it is designed to deeply nourish hair, provide the nice glossy shine to hair and can be used for those with oily scalp like myself. Just be sure to apply only at the ends of the hair never anywhere near the roots
  • Doubles as a pre-styling hair fix, I’d first detangle my hair with tangle teezer and pump 2-4 pumps and thoroughly work through the ends of my hair prior to blow drying. (Just so you know I use a separate heat protectant spray prior post mythic oil and pre blow drying)
  • Star ingredients: Avocado oil, grape seed oil
  • Definitely one of the better hair oil I have used that delivers shine and prevents my hair from overtly drying out.
