Ministry of Sound: The Annual 2010

You know you can count on Ministry of Sound for a good mix of dance music. MoS has done it again this year with The Annual 2010 being such a fab mix to crank up on dull boring work days.

The Annual 2010 is mixed by John Course (my favourite!), The Aston Shuffle and Goodwill. You can view their interview on Youtube. I have linked them below.

Some of my fav tracks include:

CD 1, Track 01 – Mstrkrft Feat. John Legend- Heartbreaker
Track 04 – Pitbull – I know you want me
Track 12 – Chuckie & LMFAO – Let the bass kick in miami beach

CD 2, Track 04 – Art VS Science – Parlez-Vous Francais?
Track 10 – Bag Raiders – Shooting Stars

CD 3, Track 10 – Mark Knight & D. Ramirez VS Underworld – Downpipe

Robin Thicke – The Sweetest Love

Robin Thicke did it. If you listen to the song without the video you will never in a million year think that a white guy can rock r&b like Robin did. Do check out “Magic” by Robin Thicke too.

Watch this video from Youtube. This song never fails to put a smile on my face whenever I hear it.

Last year when Beyonce’s latest hit was released (Single Ladies), it was instantly a hit. Not only was it blasting through radio stations, MTV, ringtones, the dance routine was widely duplicated. Here are some classic ones. Enjoy!

Justin Timberlake did it.
Perez Hilton did it.
Cubby did it.
Tim Campbell did it. (Must watch!)
Janey did it.

Here’s the original. Happy watching!

I am back in Melbourne

and I have a million things to do and catch up with. Out of no where, Oldtown Kopitiam spawned in Chinatown. Nasi Lemak Daging is awesome!

In between unpacking, snuggling with my dog, cleaning my nest, running some laundry, reading Wally Lamb’s latest, replying emails, catching up with some series, getting some peaceful sleeps, getting things sorted; I shall update my much neglected blog too. The last time I did a proper blog post (updates not included) was more than a month ago.

This place seem so foreign to me right now.

P/S: Plenty of photos ahead, beauty product reviews, album reviews and maybe a contest in the short future too !

In the mean time listen to this song “Butterfly”:

Pink Martini – Je Ne Veux Pas Travailler

I remember listening to this song a little more than 2 years ago EVERY MORNING faithfully. Yes, this is how much I don’t want to go to work for. While it is untrue with the smoking part, but the not working part certainly hit home!

Remembering not being able to understand French then I had to solely rely on a dear friend whom stayed in Paris for a year to painfully explain what the song meant. I remember singing with him in the mornings at work; it was certainly very liberating. How ironic isn’t it?

Lately, because of Edith Piaf, I have been revisiting my old and dusted music folder for some good old lax songs. Je ne veux pas travailler certainly reminded me to live my life a little for my own good’s sake.

Some other personally picked awesome Pink Martini songs are Tea for Two, Hang on Little Tomato, Never on Sunday, Brazil & Donde Estas, Yolanda.

Do check out the group. I just wish they do more French songs.

On high rotation

Duplex Inc ft. Asley Slater – The Game is the bomb.

Unfortunately, at the time being it is close to impossible to locate any image/info regarding the band or their album. Not even YouTube or Wikipedia. Now will you excuse me and I shall go shake my booty!

Listening to: Edith Piaf

Edith Piaf: The Very Best of Edith Piaf

Ever since watching La Mome, I went out of my way to search for the very best of Edith’s. She is rightly one of the best singer from France and is a legend herself for what she can do to a very simple song. I somehow found myself with 20 of her albums. All very worth listening and this one has to be my favorite of the lot.

Edith has such a strong and distinctive voice that is both very appealing to me and captivating at the same time. It felt like she was telling a story/having a conversation in her songs.

Every time when I listen to Non Je Ne Regrette Rien, it brings tears to my eyes because it automatically reminds me of the scene in the movie where she sang that song. It was both touching and sad. I have been singing this song out loud so often; I strongly suspect my neighbours believe some French just moved in.

Some of my other favorite ones are Padam Padam, Bravo Pour le Clown! (I cannot stop thinking this is a song she dedicated to her father who used to work in the circus), Le Bleu De Tes Yeux and Milord.

And of course who can forget about La Vie en Rose itself?

Definitely excellent album.

P/S: I found that singing French is a really quick way to straighten up all the pronunciation issue I encountered before.
