Bobbi Brown Marrakesh Chic Rich Color Eye Shadow

“From the dusty tones to the sandy textures, fall is about rich colour made wearable”  - Bobbi Brown

Inspired by a trip to Morocco, the Marrakesh Chic Collection ranges of colours that are very boho chic and oozes creaminess. Think soft washes of colour even though the eye shadows have intense pigmentation, creamy application and soft feminine finishes.

I got to trial #Rich Kashmir (comes in 8 shades) Rich Color Eye Shadow that is really soft and smooth to apply and blends effortlessly on the eye. Be careful with it though as the look can be deceiving and the eye shadow is highly pigmented so be sure to use very little to blend for the soft wash boho chic look.

For this particular shade, I use a fluffy brush and blend as my crease (because I have no crease!) and it is really natural, comfortable (very lightweight) and long lasting! The colour stays true to the palette shade and doesn’t smudge. Due to its power to cream finish, it melts upon application so you can use the eye shadow as your base and press pat it onto your lids or blend with an eye shadow brush.

RRP AUD$48

There’s also lip color ($44), metallic lip color ($44) and creamy lip color ($44) from the Marrakesh Chic Collection

Make Up Brushes That Won’t Break Your Bank

Make up artists and professionals will always tell you make up tools will make of break your make up routine. I personally agree to this to an extend; while you don’t need make up brush for every single make up step, there are a few that you most possibly can’t do without for example the blush brush, powder brush, eye shadow brushes to name a few.

I have been raving about how much I adore those make up brushes from Bobbi Brown & Hakuhodo and they certainly are not cheap either. Recently I’ve trialled brushes from a few other brands and is quite happy to report back with the following. They all work just as good and is relatively heaps cheaper than BB. So let’s begin shall we?

Benefit Cosmetics is one of those brands that takes us by surprise with their quirky packaging and quality of products. I am pretty surprised to see their brushes look so ‘normal’. They are sturdy, doesn’t shred when I wash them and is soft and does its job.

Benefit brushes starts from $28 – $30++. I find them very reasonable for the quality of their brushes. Brownie points for its quality of the bristles without any fall outs. The range is however quite limited, there’s only 6 brushes to choose from, great for beginners who aren’t too sure how many brushes they need and what they can do with it.

Royal and Langnickel Silk Green Line brush is the perfect eco-friendly option if you like your products natural and is environmentally friendly.

This 12 piece brush set is retailing for around $120, making each brush approximately $10 + a brush case that is comes with. Travel friendly and comes with all brushes that you need unless you’re a pro that requires 20,948,395 brushes. The brushes are super silky soft as they are 100% synthetic brushes.

Great option for someone who have very few brushes and require a complete set of make up brushes, you can’t go wrong with this.

NP Set  brushes ranges from $9.99 – $29.99. Another affordable range with great quality brushes. They are soft to touch and picks up colour just as good as the expensive brushes.

There are around 14 make up brushes all up from NP Set with a few double ended brushes mostly under the $20 mark. Comes with NP Set signature white colour, I especially love the Crease Blender Brush and Primer Brush, they are the clear stand outs.

Bobbi Brown: Black Ruby Sparkle Eye Palette (Limited Edition)

Black Ruby Sparkle Eye Palette (RRP AUD$90) is not your usual eye palette. It’s smaller than usual and is roughly the size of my palm, which isn’t big by the way. I think this is so that the palette fits right into even the smallest clutch of them all during this incoming party season. The palette is easy to open without having to force/scratch it with my nails (crappy packaging from others makeup brands please take note!).

Shades: Pink Rose / Crushed Silver / Black Ruby / Onyx

All shades are sparkly (aka grown up sparkly none of the tacky glitter), I have find that sponge applicator or synthetic brush helps to pick up more pigments as these eye shadow shades are quite sheer. Alternatively, apply with a wet sponge applicator for a defined look. I love how the eye shadow shades are sheer to medium sheer as I can easily use this palette all day long and transition to a more defined look in the evening just by wetting the brush a little.

Definitely my go to palette for this Christmas party season.

Bobbi Brown: High Shimmer Gloss

This month, Bobbi Brown released the new High Shimmer Gloss. They mean business when they say High Shimmer because these glosses are really shiny but non-sticky/tacky type of shine.

Leave lips beautifully hydrated and a nice shimmery shiny finish. While you know I’m not a big fan of glosses for the longest time but I do find myself reaching out for glosses more frequently lately. Simply because glosses these days are less tacky, less annoyingly sticky and more often than not smells so good!

#Hot – Fuschia with Pink Pearl

#Pastel – Soft Pink with Pink Pearl

Pigment wise, these lip glosses are subtle. If you’re after strong, bold colours on your lips, this won’t be it. These will however look and go smoothly over fresh coats of lipstick. The scent of these glosses definitely reminds me of minties!!

RRP AUD$42 each

Available in 15 shades on Bobbi Brown counters from 11th September

Bobbi Brown: Long Wear Gel Eyeliner

As we all know, liquid liner last a pretty long time. Little did I know gel last EVEN LONGER. They are incredibly durable. It lasted through my day, my nap (yes, I know I sleep with my makeup, everyone does that right?) the rain and tears.

Voted as the best long-wearing liner award and best beauty award and god knows what other award out there. This Bobbi Brown long-wear gel liner is an answer from the beauty god above.

It is water-resistant and cease proof too. If you frequent through Japanese fashion and beauty magazine; this gem is a constant feature and is a swear-by product by top models and fashionista alike.

One particular thing I would like to mention is that this eyeliner is no normal liner. It comes in up to 16 colors and this one that I’ve gotten is black ink. What it names is what you get. It is jet black and the black is so intense similar to ink. Beats hand down to my usual pencil, cream or liquid liner. I am so converted to gel now.

Roughly 40 licks.

Another worth mentioning gem is this fancy little ultra fine eyeliner brush from Bobby Brown too.

The dainty little brush has won the best beauty eyeliner brush award too and it goes perfectly well to use with the gel liner. This brush creates the perfect line you’d want for your lids. It is exceptionally easy to use even for people who are unfamiliar with brush application for liners.

Also the hair of the brush is really firm and tight yet smooth and is a breeze to apply with.

Roughly 45 licks.

Bronze, Brown and Beautiful

Today is a happy day. It is a happy day because it is shopping day. Shopping day is definitely happy day because shopping = happiness right? Well, I won’t ramble on about my shopping day and what I’ve brought, but there are a few things that are worth mentioning for.

Especially this new one just fresh off the shelves, came out TWO days ago – Bobbi Brown – Sandstorm Shimmer Brick ($80).

It is a bit pricey but I’d say you should not put a price on something that can make you glow, something that can make you look amazingly pretty. Good thing about it, is that it is very versatile.

You can dab the entire palette with a bronzer brush and use it as your normal shimmering bronzer. Alternatively, swipe the individual color you want with a medium eye shadow brush and blend it on your lids. The friendly assistance at the counter even dabbed a little on the middle of the lips for that extra JLO glow. You can also use it as a highlighter. What’s there not to love this handy thang?

She also gave me an entire make up session and persuaded me into buying a handful of other stuff. (More about that later.)

————————————————————————————————-

Next up, some Benefit goodies. They been around for some time and I’d always been a MAC fanatic and I guess make up is all about having fun and I am ready to loosen up my range and give everything else a go.

My eye contouring set was running low and I thought it is time to replenish my collection with something new. Benefit’s Big Beautiful Eyes is great for everyone, even beginners. It comes with concealer, base, shadow and liner. All in one pretty and handy case. Define, contour and enhance all in one. I like.

Doesn’t make much sense why would I buy two bronzer/highlighter kit in a day. Well, I guess a girl can’t live with just one lipstick, same theory applies for everything else. I love that comes with multi purpose features. Anything pretty in a nice palate, multi purpose and I am sold.

Benefit’s 10 fits exactly into that category.

Bronzer and highlighter in one sweep. Glow, sleek, sculpted cheekbones all in one go. This one comes with a sanity pink and bronze powder that do wonders for the face.
