MAC Swatches – Lip Erase, Amplified Lipstick & Satin Lipstick

Following my MAC Mattene Lipstick swatches, I’ve got more swatches for you today. I will be swatching Lip Erase and the some MAC lipstick.

MAC Lip Erase

RRP AUD$45

This is like a concealer for lips. It doesn’t moisturiser lips but does a great job at cancelling out your natural lip colour and helps to prolong lip sticks on lips. I recommend this product if you are interested in trialling nude lipsticks but never quite be able to wear them due to your natural lip colour. Also, Lip Erase is best used under lipstick.

Here is a swatch on the back of my hand so you can see it comes with a hint of brown/red.

From left: #Fusion pink A61 (Amplified) #X-S AA0 (Satin) #Fleshpot A71 (Satin)

RRP AUD$36 each

#Fleshpot A71 (Satin) – I didn’t like this colour as it is this really pale beige colour that didn’t flatter my skin tone. Additionally, it seeps it sinks in and accentuates the fine lines on my lips and didn’t blend well with my existing lip colour. Due to its satin finish it did goes on pretty smoothly and keeps it a semi-matte finish.

#X-S AA0 (Satin) –  Now this is a satin colour I love. The colour initially look quite frightening on the lipstick as it is quite dark berry brown but once applied on the lips, the colour is just ripe as a rich red berry and the finish is a perfect semi shine finish.

#Fusion pink A61 (Amplified) – Can you tell this is my favourite colour of the lot? Doesn’t take a genius to figure out I am a sucker of all things pink. This lipstick reminds me of MAC Full Fuchsia A70 but a lighter version of it. This is a gorgeous creamy pink that goes on delightfully with a hint of shine finish.

MAC: Mattene Lipstick Swatches

Couple months ago, I received some MAC lipticks after months of wearing them, I will show you my thoughts on the Mattene Lipsticks. I will save the rest for another post in the upcoming weeks.

All Mattene Lipsticks comes with a sleek black matte packaging. All lids comes with a click-lock system so you know it’s definitely closed, the overall packaging feels very sturdy and doesn’t feel flimsy at all.

From Left: #Rare Exotic, #Seeds of Desire, #Fresh Amour

#Fresh Amour  - Due to the intensity of the colour, despite its creaminess; this lipstick accentuates fine lines on my lips. To be honest, I don’t think this shade (a very light but pigmented off violet shade) is flattering on me and won’t see myself re-wearing this anytime soon.

#Rare Exotic – Love, love, love this hot pink colour. You can’t fault it, it’s pigmented, the colour goes on smoothly with a semi matte finish with the slightest hint of shine and with proper prep this lipstick is very longlasting too.

#Seeds of Desire – Haven’t ventured into the dark lips arena much and I am quite liking this dark deep berry red shade. Definitely will be rocking this lip shade during the colder months. What do you think?

RRP AUD$35 each

Christmas Day 23 – Xmas Tips and Tricks

For glowy healthy skin and make up to last, here are some of the trialled and tested handy tips that has worked for me and helped me overcome skin issues. Hopefully you’ll find it useful during this silly season.

1) Wear a primer

One for the face and one for the eyes. Especially if you have oily eyelids NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base is god sent. Whatever you do, don’t put silicon based primer on your eye lids or else even the toughest long wearing shadows won’t be able to stay in place.

Other primer recommendations include - Benefit Stay Don’t Stray Primer $45, Napoleon Perdis Autopilot Pre Foundation Skin Primer $55, Face of Australia Face Base Primer $11.95, NP Set – Pre Foundation Brightening Primer/Calming Primer $33 each

2) Use mask regularly

5 years ago, I banged on about my obsession with facial masks. 5 years later, I still do and commit time and effort to do at the very least two facial mask sessions a week. Be it cream, gel, facial cloth, clay variation I make sure I do masks according to my skin’s need.

Facial masks that I recommend – Bliss Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask (for boosting), Rodial Snake Mask $85 (for tightening), Shu Uemura Depsea Hydrability Intense Moisture Filling Mask $95 (for moisture), Jan Marini Skin Zyme Mask (for brightening)

3) Use lash strengthening products

With sparse eyelashes like mine and daily abuse (curling, mascara, make up removal), I find my lashes fall out faster than they can replenish that was until I met lash boosting products. These products not only work for lashes so if you have brow sparseness you can use it too. It helps to prevent lash prematurely breakage and to keep lashes healthy, strong and boosts the length.

Highly recommendRapid Lash Eyelash Renewal Serum $65, Xtreme Lash Amplif Eye Lash & Brow Fortifier $129,  MAC Prep + Prime Future Lash Serum $60

4) Never neglect eye cream

It worked for me and I firmly believe eye cream works. With new technologies, eye cream helps to de-puff, tightens, reduce dark eye circles and plump up the eye area.

Try: Garnier Skin Naturals Caffeine Eye Roll-On $17.95, Estee Lauder Idealist Cooling Eye Illuminator $95, AUM Anti Age Organics Firming Eye Cream $26.95, StriVectin-SD Eye Concentrate for Wrinkles $69

5) Arm yourself with make up spray

Think of it as your “hairspray” for your face. Helps to lock in moisture, make up and to help blend everything together. Usually just spray 2-4 pumps all over face after make up is done and gently pat everything in place and viola, long lasting makeup all day!

Love: Skindinavia Makeup Finishing Spray $29.95, Clarins Fix Make-up Mist $34, Kora Balancing Rose Mist

MAC: Prep + Prime Future Length Lash Serum

I started using this approximately 5 weeks ago. My lashes by default are downwards, short and sparse (yes, the worst combination you can ever get, sigh). My daily routine (pre lash extension) involves curling of my lashes with an eye lash curler, lashes of mascara and daily friction of eye makeup moving. Of course you can imagine the amount of damage my lash takes on, on a daily basis.

Out of habit, anything that promises healthy lashes, lash growth to me is akin to honey to a bee. I have previously raved about Rapid Lash and how it helped my lashes, on and off I have been on Rapid Lash for approximately one year now) so when MAC released their Future Length Lash Serum, I was curious to give it a go.

Why I love it:

  • MAC’s Prep + Prime Future Length Lash Serum promises to boost lashes by keeping it healthier/stronger, longer and lusher. I find the healthy/stronger bit is quite true. With the lashes healthier, it helps boost the longetivity of a lash lifetime, hence my lashes got to live to its full length before it falls off.
  • I am happy to report that this is okay to use both upper and lower lashes without irritating my eyes. You’ll be surprise how many lash serum treatments out there in the market that actually stings your eyes! Insane I know!
  • Since the liquid is clear and dries fairly quickly, you can use it twice daily and under your eye makeup as well.
  • 5 weeks in, I can see that my lashes did fall out much slower but to be honest I didn’t see a dramatic result in lash growth or lush wise.
  • If you’re like me who abuses her eyes everyday with layers and layers of eye makeup, this is perhaps a great product to help maintain your lashes by keeping it healthy and last longer.

Lash on ladies!

Coming to you a little late

MAC came out with the Fafi collection in the states couple months ago. I probably got mine 1-2 months ago. I am discouraged to follow up collections as it is almost always late or sometimes never to hit our shore. Pathetic Oz huh? (Well, in a way I get to save more moolah !!)

So, it is no secret I am more of a lip stick person rather than a eye shadow person. From time to time, I’d be on a mission in search for that perfect lip color. I get thrilled whenever I find one.

My current fav shade in the MAC Fafi collection is: Utterly Frivolous.

It is a shade of shimmery pink, delicate enough for day and substantial enough for night. I think it has a little bit of pearl/gold lustre in it that makes it awesome. Never overwhelming.

It is sold out online, not too sure if it is still available in the department stores. Go check out Fafi’s girly range.

Can we ever have enough?

Sometimes (by that I meant most of the time), there are so many things that I want to have but knowing in reality I don’t really need them, really.

One of the main reason is because I do not wear a lot of makeup lately. I have abandoned my MAC Hyper Real in my makeup bag and have not used it for more than 2 months now.

At most, I’ll just prep and prime, concealer, eye makeup (most time consuming), bronzer/blush and lipstick.

On lazy days, I’ll just do the brow and lipstick.

Another reason, is that I am not skillful enough to blend and create different looks with all them colors. So I’ll stick to what I’ll do best. Simple color, blend and blend some more.

On top of that, I guess I am not to keen to experiment with different kind of make up looks(I call it the made up look). Mainly because the man do not fancy too much makeup.

But this season, everything just look so beautiful and glamorous that makes you want them all. For example, the up and coming MAC Stylistic.

Just look at that. Forget the colors, the shades. Who can resist the shiny, sophisticated looking gloss. The oh so glamorous brush handles and don’t get me started with the shiny beads.

Really, I think it is more about having it rather than using it. Can you tell I need another set of brushes already?

For some reason, I am very drawn to products from Guerlain be it old or new.

And they had to come out with shiny ones as well.

Ahhh, gold powder. *Throws all bronzer in the bin and runs towards it*

Seriously, I think this season is meant for me. Will you buy me these for my Christmas pressies?

I think I have an addiction to shiny, gold, pretty stuff. I must look up the dictionary or in this case wikipedia to find out what addiction is that. Dayum.

Looks funny but I like it.

Nothing can beat gold lip gloss right, right?
They are so my color.

Not to forget pink and red lippies in gold casing. I’m all for it.

Eyeshadow palettes that looks like multi-colored chocolate bars. Hmnn….

Even Estee Lauder have their range of gold too.
Can I not be broke?

MAC Aids Fund

It is a time of giving. What’s a better way of helping by helping kids help kids.

Annually, MAC comes out with some Christmas cards painted by kids to help address the impact of HIV/AIDS on kids.

This year the cards look like these:

Unlike many other charities that donates 10%,20% and 50% of the sales to the cause, MAC donates 100% of sales to a pediatric HIV/AIDS organization. How honest is that?

Here’s another look.

Click here for some. After all, Christmas is only once a year if you usually neglect charities and donations, this is the time to choose one for some spiritual gratification.

Roughly 12 licks.
