Earlier this month, Rimmel London released a new foundation – Rimmel London Match Perfection Foundation. This collection is designed for un-detactable coverage under bright lights and to match skin tones flawlessly. There are a total of 12 shades to choose from and are mostly suited for very fair skin to medium skin tones. There are also 2 medium/dark shades.
Personally I love matching both #010 and #100 to get the perfect match for my skin tone. Both of which belongs in the yellow tone family. Texture wise, this is quite similar to most liquid foundation in the market; however coverage wise, this is light to medium. I would definitely recommend to apply concealer after foundation to add to areas where additional coverage is needed. The finish of this foundation is comfortable and dewy.
The foundation also has fragrance in it. If you don’t mind fragrances in your foundation with a sheer to light coverage + illuminating, dewy finish foundation; you will love this.

Recently both Palmer’s and Rimmel released their respective BB creams around the same time with similar price point, similar in market date and similar offering. It got me thinking, what better way is to put them together and do a face off.
Today, I will be reviewing Palmer’s Eventone BB cream and Rimmel’s 9-in-1 BB cream both products are now available in market.
As we all know, BB cream has came a long way since its launch in Australia. It used to look and feel a lot like tinted moisturiser rather than the real deal (eg: the ones released in Asia). Having heard the critics complain, we now see advanced formulas in our market offering and promising more than what it used to be.
Both Palmer’s and Rimmel released two shades (light + medium) from their BB cream collection and they all come in a screw cap tube packaging in similar heights and weight.
Key differences:
Palmer’s Eventone BB cream focuses in evening out skin tone, reducing discoloration and provides a natural tinted finish. It works to prime, perfect and protect skin.
On the other hand, Rimmel’s 9-in-1 BB cream focuses in the flawless skin finish with benefits to target blemishes and shiny forehead. This BB cream also has an alias – Skin Perfecting Super Makeup because it primes, moisturises, minimises pores, conceals, covers, smoothes, mattifies, brightens and help protect skin.
SPF:
Palmer’s Eventone BB cream has SPF 15 while Rimmel’s 9-in-1 BB cream has SPF 25. There are no mention if there were both UVA/UVB protection.
Texture:
Texture wise, both BB cream are very similar in texture. Both creamy, a dream to blend and has a natural, glowy/dewy finish.
If you have dry to combination skin you’ll enjoy Palmer’s BB cream.
If you have oily skin, you’ll enjoy Rimmel’s BB cream as it is mattifying.
#Light shades
The light shades has very different tones.
Coverage:
Palmer’s covers my flaws and evens out my skin tone perfectly and effectively at masking all the redness on my skin.
Due to the Light/Medium shade of Rimmels was so brownish it practically covered all my skin issues.
#Medium shades
As you can see the medium/dark shades are way too dark for my skintone.
Shades:
Both BB cream comes in Light and Medium shades.
Personally I find Palmer’s shades are more true to shades while Rimmel’s shades has a very “brownish” tint to it and even in their lightest shade; it looked way too brown/dark/muddy on my skin.
I love Palmer’s finish as it has a brightening effect that helps me to cheat 8 hours of sleep.
Quirky notes:
Palmer’s BB cream has a fresh white lily scent.
Rimmel’s BB cream is made in Monaco.
To complement the BB cream, Palmer’s also launched the Eventone Dark Spot Corrector (RRP AUD$19.99) packed with Vitamin C and Songyi Mushroom extract to help improve discoloration and even out skin tone.
Palmer’s Eventone BB cream is retailing for RRP AUD$9.99
Rimmel 9-in-1 BB cream is retailing for RRP AUD$12.95
Both products are widely available in pharmacies and on counters

Why I love it:
- A girl will always need a foundation in her drawer to fake “sleep and glow”. Rimmel’s Wake Me Up Foundation does exactly that.
- Pump bottle liquid foundation aka my foundation of choice most months of the year (cept’ for a few really good cream foundations )
- Texture wise it is part liquidy part creamy. So you’ll have to make sure you work it and thoroughly massage all over face. I had no issues working this with my fingers all over my face, goes on smoothly with no issues
- It also has illuminator in it that helps to reflect light (healthy glow) onto skin to A) minimise fine lines, B) minimise signs of fatigues, C) minimise the visibility of pores and flaws on skin
- Due to the illuminator content, my face did look a little dewy-er and shinier than usual which I am not very accustomed to. So if a bit of a healthy dewy and shine is not your thing, may I recommend to go over it with powder?)
- I find this pretty long lasting with zero powder on top, this lasted pretty much all day (I never touch my face with my hands throughout the day) and by the end of the night, it still looked natural not masked like on my skin. I am also happy to report that I didn’t feel my skin dehydrated or have any sinked into my fine/facial lines
- Coverage wise, this is medium to full and is buildable. As you can see in my swatch below, the foundation actually covered the green veins on my hand pretty effortlessly
- If you’re after fresh, radiant, glowy skin finish, this has to be your one-step GO TO foundation and skip the illuminator.
I am using shade #100 Ivory. My apologies with the overtly “yellow” lighting.

Rimmel recently launched a new lash plumping mascara – the Scandaleyes Mascara. Comes in a huge orange tube, quite hard to miss in a make up bag. There’s only one word to describe the applicator wand, it’s MASSIVE. L’Oreal previously released a mascara similar to this mascara and I didn’t like it this time around let’s see how this one fare.
As you can see the mascara brush has max density, it’s bigger than the mascaras that I am used to. I can see how this wand picks up all lashes long/short but it also has the tendency to get messy if you have really short and sparse lashes because chances are you’ll get the mascara bits onto the lids. So this mascara is definitely a great choice for ladies with long lashes..
The formula is injected with collagen and keratin that promises to keep lashes strong, healthy and plumped while delivering volume and curve to lashes. The finish of this mascara is wet and upon drying it doesn’t make my lashes look dry and crunchy (which I hate alot of volumising mascara tend to make lashes look so).
If you have medium to long lashes and want abit of a lift and volume, this is definitely the mascara for you.

From left to right: #11, #10, #14, #05, #07
These lipsticks are pigmented, goes on smooth (some did however accentuates the lines on my lips) and delivers a good amount of shine.
#07
This shade is a very sheer nude shade. After application I can still see my natural lip colour peaking through.
#14
This shade is very brownish nude. One that is bit more pigmented than #07 and can make you look appear wash out if there’s no other colours on your face to balance out the neutral shade. I didn’t like this shade as it accentuates the lines on my lips.
#05
A cool pink shade that is big younger on the lips than your classic reds but still delivers the punch of colour.
#10
The classic red from the range. The finish is a comfortable feel without being overtly matte or shiny/glossy.
Love this shade on my lips, I have been wearing this to work too.
#11
Bit darker (berrier) than shade #10. It looks very dark on the actual lipstick but once applied I am surprised how “natural” red this lipstick is. Have wore this shade to two Christmas parties as point of typing this post.
