Beginning of 2013, Sally Hansen sent me the most amazing nail press kit one can ever dream of. To celebrate their full colour range launch, Sally Hansen’s colour wheel is made out of predominantly neutral, beige, pinks, red and some brighter colours. Comes in a sturdy glass bottle packaging, these Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure nail polishes are quickly replacing my love for OPI nail polishes.
Look at the colours, aren’t they gorgeous? Each bottle are creamy, easy to apply and all it takes is a careful layer application for an even polish finish.
From now on, picking colours for the nails will be so hard to choose!

You probably will never find me without some sort of nail polish on all year round, 24/7. To keep my nails healthy and to make my whole manicure process easier, I rely heavily on these 3 nail products apart from cuticle oil and regular hands & nail cream. With these 3 awesome products, my manicure barely last a couple of days but with a proper base and top coat, my nail polish lasts more than a full week and my nails are stronger too.
1) Complete Care 4 in 1 Nail Treatment (AUD$26.95) I use this strength resistance smoothing base coat when I feel that my nails is feeling okay without having too much of a problem. This also doubles as a bio-strengthener, growth treatment and mega gloss top coat. Truth to be told, I use this more as a base coat rather than a top coat.
2) Miracle Cure (AUD$19.45) I rotate between Complete Care and Miracle Cure as a base coat. This is usually my pick when I feel that my nails is extra weak because this strength resistance base coat is designed for severe problem nails – dry and brittle nails will be 50% stronger nails in 3 days stops nails from peeling prevent breakage fortify nails and to lock in moisture. Both the CC and MC bases are my current favourites and I can see myself restocking once they run out.
3) Diamond Flash (AUD$13.95) This has to be my favourite out of the lost. Diamond Flash is a fast dry top coat that only takes 60 seconds to stronger nails + dazzling shine. This helps to prevent chipping and I love the shiny glossy finish.
In addition, regular filing and buffing helps tremendously to keep nails bed smooth and soft. Don’t forget to re apply hand cream whenever you get a chance and your cuticles + hands will thank you for it.
A while ago, Sally Hansen released the Sally Hansen Magnetic Nail Color collection, featuring 8 unique shades that can be use on its own or with the magnet that it comes with each individual bottle. DIY nail art has been quite the scene for nails in Australia for the past two years focusing on simple, fool proof trends. Sally Hansen pretty much nailed this department (pun gettit?) first with the Salon Effects nail stickers and now may I present you with magnetic nail colors.
Basically these nails has a revolutionary formula that infuses metallic particles in the nail polish when exposed to the magnet, it creates a “wave” like effect. They do dry fairly quickly so you have to work quickly with these nail polishes. Overall, I find that once you figure out how to use the whole magnet thingy, it is actually quite quick and isn’t time consuming. Remember, practice makes perfect so don’t be dishearten if the first time around wasn’t what you expected it to be.
How to:
1) Shake nail color to activate the magnet.
2) Remove overcap with magnet and set aside.
3) Apply one thin coat of magnetic nail color to all 10 nails and let dry.
4) Apply a thick second coat to one nail and immediately hold the built-in magnet over nail.
5) Rest the guide just below the cuticle without touching the wet nail bed, hold for 10 seconds.
6) Repeat for the rest of the nails.
#Polar Purple – Possibly my favourite shade of the lot, as you can see the magnet finish gives the polish a marbling effect.
#Kinetic Copper – Second favourite shade, I just think this one suits my skin tone and the finish is gorgeous. I can’t say no to golds, copper and browns!
#Electric Emerald – This is a unique green shade that leans more towards a metallic darker green finish.
#Iconic Indigo – This blue stands out and gives a pop of colour. As you can see I wasn’t quick enough and didn’t work out with the index finger. If something like this happen, just pain another fresh coat over and hold the magnet over the nail and viola! Problem sorted.
I think these are perfect at home DIY nail colour options for Spring races that is guaranteed to make your nails stand out from the crowd.

We all know the importance of using base and top coats when it comes to nail care. If you wear nail polishes, you must at least wear base coat if you can’t be bothered with top coat.
Recently, I got to trial Sally Hansen’s Salon Manicure Smooth & Strong Base Coat (RRP AUD$16.95). I quite like this clear base coat as it provides a smooth base on your nail bed and it helps to harden weak nails and fills ridges evenly. I recommend this to those who have weak or thin nails and those who often find their nails splitting. If you’re growing out your nails, you can also use the base coat on its own to keep nails healthy and strong.
One of the naughty things I do about nail care is that I almost never wear top coat even though I am FULLY AWARE the wonders a lick of top coat could do to your freshly painted nail colour. Sally Hansen Ultra Wear Top Coat (RRP AUD$16.95) delivers gloss and shine your nail polish can’t and helps to keep nail colour chip resistant. I guess I just can’t be bothered to wait that extra 2 minutes for nail polishes to dry but will try in the future to do so more often.
Both the base coat and top coat are infused with biotin and spirulina so you’re guaranteed strong, healthy nail beds.
What really piqued my interest was the Sally Hansen Salon Manicure Cuticle Erase & Balm (RRP AUD$14.95) which in other words a conditioning & moisturising cuticle balm to not only remove dry cuticles but also moisturise at the same time.
I love the cute spiral design of this balm; it contains white tea and cucumber to soothe and promote healthy cuticles. Say goodbye to excess, ragged cuticles & hangnails by just massaging a small amount onto cuticles until completely absorbed and use a cuticle pusher to loosen hard to remove cuticles. Remember you will only require a tiny amount for all the cuticles and be sure to wash your hands after you’ve remove cuticles from your hands.

Left to right: #Lady Luck, #Big Money
Glitter is not limited for just party season. Sally Hansen recently released Gem Crush Nail Color that is full coverage and delivers intense multi dimensional glitter polish.
Available in 8 shades, these nail polishes are easy to apply and is recommended to use with base and top coat. While it is recommended to apply three coats, I find one-two coats was sufficient with #Big Money and approximately two-three coats with #Lady Luck.

My favourite nail product from Sally Hansen has just released the limited edition Sally Hansen Salon Effects Easter Real Nail Polish Strips. This time around Sally Hansen included five cute and chirpy fun designs
- All a Flutter
- Pink-a-dot
- Mad for Plaid
- Not a Peep
- Checker Out
#Pink a Dot – The dots are bigger than your usual polka dots. Cute!
#Mad for Plaid – This design reminds me of Easter egg wrappers, love the finish. Subtle enough for day to day wear too.
#All a Flutter – This is more of a translucent finish design with butterfly and flowers/leaves finish. The most subtle of the lot and definitely compliments all skin type and goes well with all ages.
